Plant name
Family:
Status: *

Accession N°:

* = ONLY DISPLAYED WHEN DATA IS AVAILABLE !!!

Status:

The plant name (taxon) is the preferred name by which the compiler of the dataset considers the accession should be known.

Values:

  • Accepted Name: it is the name currently accepted for referring to the taxon by the compiler of the dataset.
  • Tentatively Accepted Name: it is the name currently accepted for the taxon by the dataset compiler, but with some element of doubt. This could be taxonomic or nomenclatural doubt.

Conservation value:

The value for conservation of each accession is established when it enters into the Botanic Garden. It is based of its provenance and propagation history. The conservation value does not take into account the type and the number of regenerations which have been conducted at the Garden.

Values:

  • Wild collected: plants or seeds collected from the wild. The material has not yet been propagated other than growing on from the original stock. It may have come directly from the wild or via a botanic garden or seed bank acting solely as a distribution centre.
  • Cultivated from wild collected material: this category concerns accessions derived by propagation directly from an original wild source plant. In the case the propagule is not directly from the wild sourced plant, a complete history of the intermediate propagation steps must be known, otherwise the accession should be placed in the next category.
  • Cultivated material: this category concerns accessions derived from cultivated plants where the immediate sourced plant has no propagation history which can be traced in detail to a wild plant. It also includes cultivars.
  • Naturally occuring in the Garden.
  • Unrecorded provenance: no information is available.

Sex:

Values:

  • Female
  • Male
  • Female + Male

Determination:

The determination data is encoded as follows: value (verifier's name, date).

Values:

  • Verified: the identity of the accessioned plant material has been confirmed.
  • Identified: the accessioned plant material has been fully identified.
  • Identified to the rank of species.
  • Identified to the rank of genus.
  • Identified to the rank of family.

Provenance:

The provenance data concern the site where the plant or seed material has been collected. The data are encoded as follows: country, administrative subdivision(s). The latter can be: state, region, province, district, prefecture, county, .... They are listed, starting from the major unit. When administrative subdivisions are unknown, names of geographical regions are used.

Source:

The data related to the donor are encoded as follows: country, city, institution. Nursery names are followed by "(N)". Individual's names are omitted.
